Heartworm Disease in Cats

Heartworm season is April to November and it is time to protect you kitty against heartworm.

Heartworm disease in cats is becoming more common in the United States. Heartworm is a parasite that is transmitted by mosquitos. If your cat is bitten by an infected mosquito, a microscopic larval stage heartworm is injected into the skin.

This small heartworm takes up residence in the pulmonary artery and can grow as long as twelve inches. One to five heartworms may reside in the cat.

This is a potentially fatal disease for cats and can cause irreparable damage to their hearts and lungs. Prevention, through giving medication is the only way to ensure protection against the disease.

Please contact All Cats Care Center for medication that will protect your pet from this illness.
